The 12 Hour Challenge, or how I learned to stop worrying about perfection.

I used to never get coding projects finished due to my want to ensure that everything is “finished” before I release a game. This changed two days ago, when I made a whole game in just 12 hours.

As a young lass, I dreamt of making the next Breath of the Wild. A wide game with enough depth to keep someone enthralled for at least a year. I quickly learned when I started coding that this was not possible on my own, but that did not stop me from being stubborn and trying it anyways. This led me into an endless loop of starting a project only to abandon it, until recently, when I developed and released a game in just 12 hours, without AI involved in any part of the process. I used to struggle with AI addiction, so making something without any AI involved is a weight off my shoulders to know that I can in fact beat an addiction.

If you want to play the game, check out laineymbv.itch.io, and play “Fights and Charms”, a roguelite with just four buttons.
